Choose the program you want to use to open this file!!

    Hello,

Everytime I restart my laptop, I get this pop up "Choose the program you want to use to open this file" for a file that has no extension, or at least the extension of the file isn't shown. I tried opening the file with notepad and get some sort of list with the title "Interface List".

I checked my startup folder and it was empty.
This problem only started a few days ago, and I can't recall doing anything different other than installing Symantec Endpoint Protection and running a full scan.

Any suggestions? I can upload print screens if necessary.

    Regards,

Hello numhum, welcome to Seven Forums!

It would also be a good idea to run some other virus scans, at the link below download and install the free version of Malwarebytes, when installed run a full scan of the complete PC, if it finds something run additional scans until it comes clean.
Be sure to keep us informed.

The start-up folder will only show user-defined start-up apps. Open msconfig (Start -> Run -> msconfig.exe), go to the start-up tab and see if there is anything you don't want to run at start-up. But be careful, some important processes may look unfamiliar. Better to Google those unknown items first. But I am sure that all legitimate entries are well-documented on the web.
