    Same problem...

    I posted a thread about this, 2-3hrs ago, but I can't find it now, so I'll make a new thread.

    I tried making a screen-shot so that you could see the problem but everything on it came out okay. The screen-shot was normal and it failed to show the problem.

    Here's the problem: the screen in front of me has become overly elongated and it curves inwardly (left and right sides). Furthermore, every window that I open has an inwardly curve to it.

    I've been trying to fix this for the last 2-3hrs to no avail. Please help!

    PS: I even reinstalled the OS. Nothing helps.

    sounds like a physical adjustment problem with your screen. That's why the screenshot is normal. Check the adjustment controls on your monitors/screen.

    To post a screen you try a snip.
    Just hit start, and in search box type snip.

    Highlight the area you want & save it. Then upload here as a attachment, as seen in snip 1 below.

    Also, please fill in your specs the best you can so we know more about the setup what we are dealing with, so we can better advise a possible solution.

    I switched my OS to Ubuntu because the problem started on that OS. I would really like to use Windows 7 (I bought it yesterday) but I was playing around with the monitor setting and I really messed things up. Hence, the switch to another OS.

    My monitor is a, hp pavilion mx703. There's a setting (I think it's the one that should help my situation the most) that's called "pincushion," which is on 51, but when I try to move it, it does nothing.

    I read somewhere that maybe my monitor is dying. How do I know for sure?

    The simplest way is if you have access to another PC or monitor known to be good:

    1.) First things first, reset the monitor to its default settings. (this may help)
    2.) Hook the monitor up to another PC. See if the problem persists.
    -->If No.. then the issue is something to do with other hardware, not the monitor. (Could even be the cable itself)
    --> If Yes, then theres a possibility the monitor is bad. (or again cable if same one was used)

    if the monitor works fine on another PC, then try took hook up a different monitor to yours.
    If that monitor does the same as yours, then possibly a graphics card or other hardware issue.

    Unfortunately, I don't have another monitor at this location.

    Here are some of my monitor settings:

    Size/Position ->H Adjustment -> H Size - 53
    -> H Position 50 ->
    -> U Adjustment -> U (or V - I can't tell)Size - 53
    -> U (or V) Position 50
    -> Zoom -> Zoom - 53

    Advanced -> Color ...
    -> Image rotation -> 50
    -> Image shape -> Trapezoid - 51
    -> Parallelogram - 53
    -> Pincushion - 51
    -> Pincushion balance - 4
    -> Moire correction -> Moire correction - yes
    -> U (or V) Moire - 0
    -> H Moire - 49
    -> OSD settings -> Lock OSD settings - no
    -> Timeout - 60s
    -> U (or V) Position - 50
    -> H Position - 50
