    Ownership and Permissions

Out of all the things that drive me up the wall about Windows 7 are ownership and permissions and "Read-only" crap.

I am trying create and archieve using winrar 3.92. There is hardly a day goes by that I don't unrar or rar some file, so I eliminated winrar as the problem.

When I try to create the archieve, I get the following:

    Ownership and Permissions-rar1.jpg

    Access Denied
The first thing I did was take ownership of the folder to be rared, with the same results.

I then set the permissions to the highest possible.

    Ownership and Permissions-rar4.jpg

    Same results.

I then set the Advance Attributes as follows:

    Ownership and Permissions-rar2.jpg

    Same results.

Here is where I suspect the problem comes from:

    Ownership and Permissions-rar3.jpg

When I try to clear the "Read-only" attribute, it comes right back.

This should not be this big a deal to create an archieve. It is enough to drive me nuts.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Create the rar file in a different folder on H:?

What is H: by the way?

Bare Foot Kid that is how I took owner by having that.

H is a partition on a second hard drive. I have Win XP installed on that hard drive (not the H partition) and can boot to either operating system.

I have tried coping the folder to other partitions and get the same results.

I guess my logic fails me. I would think once you take ownership that all permissions would be granted. It don't seem to work that but it would be nice if Microsoft could make that change.

I guess I can boot into XP and make the .rar file then come back to Win 7, but that is a pain.

    Have to wait and see.

    Thanks
