    Question. :/

I'm new to Windows 7, installed it yesterday.

I installed the 32 bit version on my C: drive but later decided to install the 64 bit version as well on my D: drive as that would allow me to utilize all of my 4GB RAM.

Now my question is, does this affect the overall system performance? Also, the drivers that I installed for my 32 bit version, will work on my 64 bit version as well, right?

    If not, can somebody link me to the 64 bit drivers for;

Dell Inspiron n5010 with these specifications:
    Intel core i3 M 350 2.26 GHz
    4GB RAM
    320GB HDD
    ATI Raedon HD57401

Thanks a bunch to anybody who could help me out.

    :)

1-you can only run one system at a time having the other on the HD does nothing in terms of performance problems.

2-32 bit drivers dont work on 64 bit.

3-you can get 64 bit drivers from the same place you got 32bit (support.dell.com)]

Dont expect miricles. Remember 64 bit will let you use all 4 gigs but will use much more than it allows you to use. It is more resource intensive than 32 bit

    Dell - Drivers and Downloads

Interestingly, I only see drivers for the X64 versions of Vista and Win7.

32 bit drivers will not, in general, work in a 64 bit OS.

How did you activate the X64 version? My understanding is that one license can be used for one version at a time.

Thanks for the reply Ken. I don't understand what you mean by 'resource intensive', does it mean things are going to work slower or what? :S

I haven't activated the 64 bit version, it says 30 days remaining for activation. Did my activation on the 32 bit version.

If I were you, I'd play around with both for at least a couple months and decide which one I like better, as opposed to paying for another key. I know what your thinking. "What does he mean 'couple months?'" This might be of some interest to you: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...120-days.html?

Unless you have a specific reason for using the x86 version, I'd go with the x64 version only and be done with it. Besides, you won't be able to keep both activated anyway...one license, one install at a time. If you don't see drivers for x64 from Dell, you can either get them from the manufacturers, like the chipset drivers right form Intel, or from Windows Update.
