Windows 7: Sticky Notes go blank

Sticky Notes

GregRocker--When I tried to follow your advice to restore before the last Reg. Mechanic, I found only "automatic restore points." I then checked and found only 1% space set for Sys Restore. I moved that to 50% (342GB). Is that adequate?
I'm not certain I understand about using the offline defragger on System files. I already have the paid Perfect Disc, set for Stealth Patrol, which automatically defrags, the current frag is 0%. Any reason for me to change?
My H-P Touchsmart 600 didn't come with a Repair CD, but I will make one according to the link. I've twice used System Restore to an earlier time, without problems.
I appreciate your patience. Len

In what ways is it better than the Sticky Notes that came with 7, please?

Stickies is a virtual post-it notes program that allows you to place sticky notes on your desktop, which will remain where placed until closed - even across reboots. The appearance of the sticky notes can be customized in color, font, transparency and other aspects. The notes can be sent across a networked and also synchronized with friends, imported/exported, sent by email and attached to application windows. You can choose to hide or show all notes with a single click from the tray and also recover notes that have been deleted in the past. Stickies can be hidden (sent to sleep) for a certain period, or until a specified date and time, to act as a reminder. Stickies is probably one of the best sticky note program you can find, it is small, well documented and comes with many useful features.

I think 50% is too much space for SysRestore. I'd try 10% and see how many Restore points it gives you.

I would not personally pay for a defragger when Auslogics makes the best ones available for free. As stated I use Perfect Disk 11 trial to move System Files out of the way if/when a partition won't shrink.

Was there an automatic restore point which you know is before you used Registry mechanic. If so, try it to see if it overcomes this issue. You can always undo the Restore point.

If not, you can consider a Repair Install (upgrade over itself) from desktop after saving a Win7 backup image and backing up your files.

Jacee--Sounds good, will download.
GregRocker--I learned the "automatic restore points" were those set by Reg. Mechanic. Does 7 automatically establish restore points at specified times or events, as XP does? I will move the setting to 10% and see.
I'll download Auslogics, as you think it's better, and not use Reg Mechanic. I don't know what PD 11 is, and when I'd need to move because a partition won't shrink. I never ran into that problem with XP, do you think it's realistic to be concerned about it?
My files are backed up with Carbonite, which has successfully restored them several times. Could you please explain "repair install from desktop"?
Thanks again.

PD = Perfect Disk. No need to buy it since Auslogics is free. I only use it to help shrink stubborn partitions and then I use the free trial.

I already own Perfect Disk. I will download Auslogics if I run into the problem of a stubborn partition. Have you time to address these?:

If you don't have time, I understand. You've spent a lot with me already, for which thanks.

I posted a link to the full tutorial for Repair install in my last post.

System Restore does set automatic restore points at certain intervals but someone else will need to explain exactly how this works.

I didn't realize it was the same. I've saved it. I don't need to know how System Restore establishes auto restore points, just that it does. I asked because in a 6-day period (before I increased sys rest space from 1%), the only points were those Reg Mech established (I was using it daily then.)
You've been a huge help. (I'm not that far away from Venice, in San Diego.)
