at this point, if youre paying for software thats more expensive than that hunk of junk, then yea, makes sense.

I used original drivers from the old XP drive which installed and operated without any problem. I didn't connect to the internet yet and this is before SP1. I am going to make a backup on another drive and then start the updates. By the way, no compatibility was set. I'm using 2 gigs of RAM. If all goes well I will make the drivers available online.

Will Windows 7 work on dell dimension 3000?
Has anyone tried to install Windows 7 on a dell dimension 3000? Any driver issues, or compatability issues? I am going to do some testing and this is the only test computer I have. It does have 2 gigs of Ram. Thanks.

Dell Dimension 3000 No sound but everything installed correctly.
I hope someone can help. I'm not fully knowledgeable with computers but know the basics. I bought a second hand Dell Dimension 3000 running Windows 7. I have no sound. The drivers are installed in Device Manager (Realtec AC'97), and also (Uniplex Half Modem) both under sound, video controllers....

Dell Dimension 3000
Does anyone know much about the Dell Dimension 3000? I have run into a problem for about a month now of it restarting itself no matter what OS it is running. It is obviously a hardware problem and not a Windows problem so please don't try to troubleshoot it. Any help will be appreciated. :D Ben
