    search not working

I have followed more than one example on the internet about searching for files and my PC does not do what the examples describe. One example is actually from Microsoft. When I type a file name in the search box on the start menu or at the top of a folder I do not get anything. The list is not filtered down to the files containing what is in my search box. Nor does the start menu display a list of items that may match what I am searching for. What am I missing.

Ignorance is definitely not bliss. Who coined that phrase anyway?

As for you problem. Do you have indexing turned off? If you turned it off yourself, you would know.

Also, I've noticed that Dell absolutely loves to mess with a wide array of stuff on home computers. It might be something they did causing it.

And what services did you turn off or did you use one of those "speed up you computer programs" which do much more harm than good?

The search feature did not disappear all by its little old lonesome but rather had help.
