Typing jumps around the page ? weird....

Hey guys, im posting this to try and help my mother. She is running Win7 Ultimate 32 bit, here's her problem (well one of many teehee)

often when she is trying to type in email (web email), websites, even MS word, the typing jumps over the page she is on. ie, when typing the word (for example only) "THAT", the "TH" is fine, but the "AT" jumps somewhere randomly up above into a previous line or word she has typed. Basically I guess its not the letters jumping, but the cursor moving randomly as she types.

Hopefully my description makes sense, has anyone else ever experienced this or know of this issue?

I've seen similar behaviour on laptops that needed the touchpad drivers updated, is it a laptop?

Probably brushing across the touchpad, as Z3 suggests. Some touchpads are configurable, my Lenovo's Alps is not. If not she could use an external keyboard - a really good idea anyway - or there's a program that's supposed to mute the touchpad while you're typing. It's called TouchFreeze, but I haven't tried it.

Yes she is using a laptop, but on the phone right now with her and she confirms she's not accidentally touching the touchpad.

I just had her try a potential fix, "uncheck (hide pointer while typing) but that didnt work either.

Appreciate the help folks, in parallel im googling the issue too.

What is the make and model number of her laptop? It could be that the sensitivity of the touchpad needs decreasing (if possible). Since many laptops place the touchpad below the spacebar, could she be inadvertently resting her hands/wrists on it whilst she is typing?

My recommended solution, which I learned the hard way: buy her a trackball.

I had similar problems with my parents, until one of my siblings bought them a good-sized trackball.

If wireless, my friend just had the problem. I used all my computer expertise to solve the problem but could not. Finally, the battery died, was replaced and all is well
    Try a new battery.
