Unable to format ?

I found some disks in my room with old music burned on them so i decided to format it so i can put new stuff on it. When i click for mat its goes for like 3 seconds and says "Unable to format disk".

Disks? Floppy, cd, dvd? R+ RW+? sometimes old floppies cant be reformatted

erm cdr ??, you cant format the disc again , once its been recorded onto and the session "closed" its no use anymore (apart from getting the data obviously) I think CD-RW is rewriteable im not sure dont use em anymore

dude yu can format only CD-RW/DVD-RW... in optical disc.. nothing else can be formatted...
