Im trying to get my music off my ipod to my laptop win 7 home. 32 bit. When I goto folder options and select show hidden types. i hit apply and ok. but it wont show up and when i return to the menu it stays on hide hidden files

Check directly inside your registry. Always make a backup before messing with your registry.
Start -> Search "run" -> regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
CheckValue and DefaultValue should equal (1) instead of (2)
If yours is set to (2) try changing them both to (1) and reset your computer.

Check System files integrity: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
It is possible that a setting is sticking. Either a local computer policy or a reg entry.
I use caution when recommending reg edits although I have never lost data behind the registry.
Your advice is valid just possibly overkill. You can't be to cautious in any event.

this is a hidden folder virus.. i think the name is "amvo".....
i can giv yu the procedure to remove it manually... but its a lengthy one.. google it.. yu ll get the procedure...
first confirm it by doing this...
run-----> type "msconfig" (without quotes) and press enter..
in the startup window that opens, chose startup tab and check whether this "amvo" is ther r not..
but i'm very sure yu r affected by a virus... most antivirus can remove it, but it'll leav yur files corrupted, so evn if the virus is removed, the "show hiddden file" option won work.... all hidden files will be visible, but yu cannot use the "show hidden files" option. only solution is format r restoring your system to previous dates..
but make sure this virus is cleaned n removed... then go for a system restore.. :)
Uninstall your AV, install free MS Security Essentials, update, run Full Scan. Leave MSE as real time protection with Windows 7 Firewall.
Next install, update and run full Malwarebytes scan for on-demand protection.
Next run sfc /scannow to repair any damaged System Files.
If this fails to fix it, run Repair Install
If this fails then gather your program installers, back up your files, wipe the HD to clean reinstall Win7 to a zeroed HD. It is crucial you zero the HD to overwrite any infected code. SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

If you have a factory installed Win7, make your REcovery Disks before wiping the HD.
