    Do I really need administration

I am running into all the same problems as the other threads...not being able to access some files and not being able to install games and such. The computer is in the house and the only people that use it is myself and the wife. Can I just disable it and be done with all the problems. I see the red flags that say you are vulnerable if you disable it . Is this just over kill...I would just like to keep it simple stupid.

Try it with this administrator, it has more rights than the normal adminstrator account. You can also disable UAC

Thanks for the speedy reply. I will try it out and see if I can get it. I still think most of this stuff is over engineered.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't running with UAC turned off the same as using the hidden, built in administrator account? But a lot easier and more convenient. I personally have turned UAC off and never looked back. I went months with UAC turned on and the only prompts I ever got was when I was trying to do something.

Click on the Orb, type UAC, and click on "Change User Account Control settings". However, this shouldn't be necessary - what problems are you having? It's better to fix the problems than to turn off UAC.
