How are you trying to do a clean install?? You are suppossed to insert Win7 DVD then boot from the CD/DVD drive... (not running it from 'My Computer' from within Windows).

Make sure that your PC knows to try and boot from CD/DVD first in the BIOS setup. If it is set to boot from CD first before the hard-drive, then your CD/DVD drive might be dead.

    Hello Generator,

The DVD drive isn't dead, it's been made unaccessible by the same problem that has made my C drive unaccessible, and nearly everything in the control panel unusable, saying things like check the address, or that I don't permission to open / do so and so, and to ask the network administrator for permission.

Even booting in safe mode, and logging in to the Administrator account doesn't change things.

    Very Best Wishes,
    Bob.

I ment can you boot up to the CD/DVD drive though, as in NOT going to the DVD via windows itself but booting straight to the DVD in order to do a total fresh install of Windows.

This sounds like a problem I had. I just posted this on what happened:

I am having this same problem in RC 7100. From what I can find out is that it's a problem with "homegroup" sharring. I still have not found an answer and the "official answer" I got from MS was "It is an RC therefore we do not offer support"
