Desktop Icons and Start-up Icons appeared to be bugged.

    Hi guys!

I'm new here..so, please bear with me.
I think my Icons got bugged or something. This happened after my friend asked me to move some music and movies from my computer to his hard drive. After I did that, i turned off my laptop and went back to my room and turned it on. What happened next worried me since I wasn't able to move my mouse, the Icons have an Icon that is a square white on top of each. It's an icon on top of one. I turned off my laptop how many times and still does it so i restore it on an earlier date. After i did that, My mouse started working yet my computer became so slow and the Icons are still the same. (white square on top of an old Icon and the icons when you click start are just white squares). I'm getting frustrated already since I'm nowhere near Bestbuy since I am deployed here in Afghanistan. Should I just send this laptop back home since I paid for the insurance anyway or is this fixable while i'm here? Please help. thanks a lot in advance!

Attached is the pic of what happened to my icons.

He could have had a virus or malware, which he generously gave to you
Run a full anti virus scan
Download and run full scan with malwarebytes, be sure to update first.

Those icons are the smallest of your problems. First make sure that you are clean. If so, we can probably restore through the icon cache or by a system restore.

Do not use this now. Wait until you are sure you have no malware or Virus.
I give it to you now, just so you have it when ready, I may not be on line.

Cool. I really appreciate the help. Considering you're like 5,000+ miles away and it's hard to look for any help from here since all i got is just me and the other soldiers who doesn't know anything on how to fix this kind of problem. Be safe there bud and keep on helping people who need your expertise.

Yeah, I'm from Las Vegas but our unit is stationed in Arizona(Fort Huachuca- It's actually in southern Az near the US-MX border) and my family lives there right now. But currently, I am deployed here in Afghanistan until March 2011. We left last April for a year deployment.
