I'm sure I can, but don't want to run an instal - just a Repair

I finally got the System Restore CD to run and ran the Repair. Says all is good. But was looking for a way to re-load the dotnet Framework 3.5 SP1 since I DELETED IT ALL while chasing why I had Update fails of 0x8007371B.

You can repair form install DVD as well as Repair CD.

Just turn on Windows Update and if it needs the Net Framework Service Pack it will deliver it to you, possibly under optional which is where goodies like drivers also come through.

Thanks! will give it a try.

Have been running the System File Checker to check the build. First run result was 7,325kb, second run 378kb.

From the report, the system knows there was a fault and many repairs were made, not just to Framework.

However, still can't get Framework back.

But, I will try with the install CD.

If you're on the desktop now but unable to repair with sfc, then consider a Repair Install - Windows 7 Forums.URL

Boot from the original install as Repair has the same operations as the System Restore.

And that could not find any problem either.
Don't want to go thru a re-install. have near 250k files and many apps

Sounds like MS needed. Will submit.
    thanks for the info!

But if you cannot start Win7, then run Startup Repair from the Install DVD or Repair CD rather than the one that autostarts when Win7 won' t start.

Try to System Restore from the Repair disk to before the problem occurred.

A Repair Install is done in-place from desktop while saving all programs, files and settings. Read the link..
