Can't rename shortcut in Start Menu

I tried to change the first letter, on the start menu shortcuts, and get M instead m
    But is not working.
    Any ideas why ? Thanks.

    Hello Stereo,

I do not know what you are referring to. Could you give more details and explain what you are talking about?

    Okay, Brink.
Look, for example : i have in the Start Menu, the Acronis shortcut.
I wanted to rename it "ACRONIS" but is not possible ( caps lock problem in OS ? )
    Now is "Acronis"
Can i rename it ACRONIS ??

    Stereo,

That description is much better. :)

The issue is that the file names are not case sensitive in Windows 7, so whether it's all capitalized or lower case, Windows 7 sees the name as the same so it doesn't think you are actually renaming it.

To workaround this, rename it to Acronis1, then rename it again to ACRONIS so Windows 7 will see it as an actual change and allow it.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

You will admit that the start menu are shortcuts, so any change here will change any s/cut you have on your desktop.

In Start menu Right click s/cut to change>Properties, select General, replace any text in top box to what you require OK.
You'll find its disappeared out of start menu but desktop shortcut has changed, Right click>Pin to Start menu.

    East-peasy

Its strange but renaming a desktop item won't change the Start menu, but changing the Start menu item alters the desktop one.
