File Sorting

I am trying to figure out if it's possible to ignore the articles in a file name (i.e. A, An, The) for sorting purposes.

More specifically, I want to organize my music folder and I want the folder for "The Beatles" to sort with the other letter "B" artists instead of with the "T" artists.

I have tried searching all over Google, but I haven't been able to find any answers. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Your best chance may be a file management program, or a media library that uses mp3 tags or other info. You might find something with custom settings on one of the download sites like Softpedia or similar.

Speaking of which, I use a DVD catalog program that can be set to automatically but the articles at the end of the name. It's Personal Video Database. It's mainly set up to do video but there may be plugins for auto search of audio stuff too. It's free. You can check it out here:

File sorting - limited to one level now?
In Vista, I was able to sort files by date created, highlight the files I want, then sort again by name, and all the files I selected previously would still be highlighted, but now they're in numerical order. Win 7 won't let me apply that second level of sorting. It's either name or date, but not...
