Changing the drive letter for DVD Drives?

So I know that going into disk management allows me to change the letter assignments for hard drives and such, but there are no dvd-drives listed there. Where do I go in win7 to change the drive letters for my installed burners?

@XNemesis, Does your "Computer" show the DVD drive? If not check that you have no loose connection and that the drive is connected properly. If still it does not show in 'Computer", change the cable and check.

Here is a screenshot of my "Computer" where both my DVD and BD drives are shown and I have renamed them as Y and Z using Disk Management.

If they aren't showing in Disk Management, then make sure they are showing in My Computer (my guess is, they won't be), and then we need to troubleshoot why they aren't available.

    WIN + E keycombo

Does your "missing" device show up there? Yes or No.

WIN is the key with the wavy flag.

Continuing on the sublect, many years ago my new Moserbaer-Liteon Combo drive would not show up on "My Computer". I do not remember whether it was Windows ME or XP. I had to enter the registry and make a simple edit to get it recognised. I do not remember exactly what it was and perhaps that may not be applicable now with Windows 7.

Anyway, I just found this microsoft support article. Check whether it helps you.

    Hello XNemesis,

You can check using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to see if the DVD drives are listed, and if so change the drive letters for your DVD drives.

    Hope this helps,
