    Spurious Desktop Icon

I was working with IObit Toolbox. I don't know quite what I did but I now have and icon on my desktop for 'Administration Tools'.This is not a 'shortcut' (no little arrow). If I right click I get the following options; Open - Search Everything - Win Zip - Create Shortcut. I cannot find a way to get rid of this icon. I cannot delete it. Can anyone help?

This is how to add it
To remove it just delete this from registry
Windows Tips & Tricks: Add The Administrative Tools Icon To The Desktop

    Note
Have a backup of registry first
    Make a system restore too

I have not tested this, a wrong change to registry can cause problems.

I never used said toolbox so I can't be sure.
But in case that icon is some Namespace object.
You could delete it through the registry:
    Navigate to

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace

and check the subkeys to see if one of them says something about Administration Tools or IOBit Toolbox.
if you find nothing there, check under

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace

Like always: Working in the registry only with all necessary precautions because it's the best place to hose your Windows installation completely.

    Good luck

Just a small thought. Can you just drag and drop to recycle bin.
