    Won't wake from sleep mode

    Hello all,

I really hope someone can help me out. I am not savvy in this kind of stuff. My husband has a home built computer that runs our tv system with windows media center. He had to leave on a military deployment and right before he left he had to reinstall the OS. Since then the computer refuses to wake from sleep mode. I have to scram it to get it to come back up. Since we run the media center it ought to wake up to record automatically, but it isn't doing that either. I've checked all the power options but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Although, at this point, I really have no clue. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Try this, and let me know if it works: Windows Does Not Start After Sleep

Bob - I'm not clear on the tutorial: It fixes sleep by turning off Sleep in Power Options, then Hybrid Sleep in Advanced options, then turning on Hibernate in Advanced. But there is no step to turn Sleep back on.

So is it only replacing Sleep with Hibernate?

I ask this because later Comments seem to imply that you want Sleep turned back on after making the Advanced settings changes.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm slow tonight.

You disable the sleep timer, then disable Hybrid sleep, which allows both sleep and hibernate (like a laptop). The Hybrid sleep mode is kind of buggy, though this still wont let my comp sleep.

So do you turn back on Sleep after turning off Hybrid Sleep?

If not, how is sleep working if set to Never?

    Or is it only Hibernate?

The Power setting where it will automatically put the computer to sleep is turned off. You can still hit start, Sleep/hibernate, etc.
