on reflection i have decided to not risk lois lapptop to tuneups and shall try auslogistics ,im sure i can config them to defrag weekly .
I would run CCleaner followed by Auslogics Disk and then Registry Defraggers monthly.

If you get tired of having to type your passwords back in, uncheck Cookies in CCleaner cleansing list.

If you're using touchpad driver from Lenovo webpage, then also check the webpage of the touchpad maker and model given in Device Manager, and optional Updates. You might also be able to turn down sensitivity in touchpad software. Two fingers in the touchpad box at the same time causes problems, keep other finger beneath click button.

Ok quick update ,the laptop is running sweetly, its clean and defragged lois is approaching it slowly,so i have to be careful of taking it over and her feeling its not really hers (which of course it is!) she needs to bond with it and not be afraid.
moiNST if you know of any beginners sites that will ease lois in then please let us know.
Thanks guys for all your help in this thread

LOL, my sceen name means Mo in St. Louis (MoInSTL). STL is the airport identifier code like LHR is for London Heathrow.

If you give me more specific questions, I will be happy to answer them. If she has not ever really used a PC before, playing solitaire helps with dragging and dropping and left clicking. I have no idea what level she is on, so fill me in. To help personalize it more, have her pick the wallpaper and or theme.

If it's Windows 7 she needs help with, here's a PDF link for a free beginners eBook. Free eBook: Windows 7 for Beginners | The Windows Club.

There are tons of tutorials on You Tube like these: YouTube - Windows 7 Tutorial 1 - Introduction to the Desktop

I create a slideshow with all 120 regional Win7 wallpapers which are some of the most magnificent photos ever taken. Users are dazzled - all seem to keep the slideshow except for the occasional teenager who prefers Batman.

Thanks guys, moinSTL the begginers book will be good reading for lois. i thought i would get her for dummies guide.
i was wondering if you knew of any learning sites for computing with excercises ,she can open internet and browse and between her and our daughter they managed to buy clothes online!
she can navigate folders and play music ,but its basics tasks she could do with a brief course on.
i ask as i think she would get to grips easier with it than getting annoyed with me ,
im not a good teacher and shes not a good pupil (for me!)

I would search on You Tube. Just use various search terms starting with the one I suggested and go from there. In fact, let her do it and she can select the ones she wants to watch. You may want to pick up some headphones or ear buds.

Microsoft has some nice ones. They are short and professionally done. There are several in a series here: YouTube - Windows 7 Tour - Episode 1

Non-video. But has some videos in some.
