Can you put a webpage on your desktop?
Is there a way to put webpages on your desktop in Windows 7 like you can in XP?

google chrome uses a shortcut and gives you a choice of three locations to put it its called "create application shortcuts"
left click the wrench at top right at the extensions bar > mouse down to tools > left mouse to the "create application shortcuts" > and choose what shortcuts you want (for the website you are currently on) desktop - taskbar - start menu
Look at the attatchment to see what I mean.
I posted an pic to this thread. It will show you what I mean.
In XP, I think it was called Active Desktop and you could designate a website to be the wallpaper for your desktop or you could have it as an object similar to Vista/Win 7 gadgets.
To get to your question, I don't know if it is possible with Windows 7. I'm on a Vista computer right now and I'm trying to see if it is possible right now.
Update: For what it's worth, I did a search and found an article on Wikipedia stating that the Active Desktop feature was removed from Windows beginning with Vista.

Embed a browser as your wallpaper is what I mean. I wasn't sure what you called it before.
