it is not the programs available but it is the features of the OS itself that we need to use
What features are you needing to use? Its possible you could produce the same results with Windows 7.

Ill post some of the questions that i was not able to answer with Windows 7
1)What are the first 13 words of the text that appears in the popup when you hover over Control Panel in the Start menu?
    2)
What are two submenu categories found in the Accessories submenu
    3)
What are the three areas found on the left side of the My Document windows?
4)What does each of the slider controls adjust the volume for? (in volume control)

That's some strange stuff right there!

A lot of those questions are dependent on the way in which the computer is setup and the type of hardware (especially audio in the case of one of the questions) contained on the system.

I can guarantee my Xp was/is setup differently than most and if one were to use my XP to answer those questions they would certainly differ from the answers at which most others would arrive.

Computer literacy class? If such questions are to be asked and there is to be some type of consistent manner in determining the validity of the answers, the instructor should be providing you with a computer lab wherein consistency for accuracy in answering the questions can be controlled.

Heck, just put down anything and tell 'em that's how your XP is configured. If you had XP you could configure it in practically any manner you care to regarding those questions.

Anyway, let's go back to the questions; all of them can be answered in Windows 7. Look a bit harder, you'll gain additional computer literacy.

Sorry but the professor is wrong - for example I've just finished an XP install and the accessories sub menu in the start menu does not contain any sub-Menus - I deleted the folders

If the questions were properly designed such as "what is the recommended minimum processor that you require for XP?" then you would get some consistency in answers

Why on Earth is your professor using an OS that is two times removed from current technology?

Sorry for the sarcasm. You came here seeking help. You deserve better than what I have offered heretofore. Look below.
