Is my HDD Corrupted? Toshiba L450d-12X?

Tried upgrading my Windows 7 Professional installation to Windows 7 ultimate. I ended up formatting the partition and now Windows wont load and the installation just freezes on 0%. I dont have a recovery disk for this laptop, is there any way to access the recovery partition on this laptp to reset it to factory settings or a recovery CD I can order and will it work?

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D-12X

    Update:
I deleted everything and installed windows in the unallocated space. Now it got past the expanding files, installing features and updates but at the last step i get a error message. "Windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computers hardware". This computer had windows 7 before so i have no idea what to do now

    update:
i changed bios to compatible, it went throught hat but now at the end of installation i get this error code.

Confirm the HD by running maker's diagnostics/repair extended CD scan: HD Diagnostic
followed by Disk Check from DVD/Repair CD Command Prompt. System Repair Disc - Create

I would install in AHCI mode first, then IDE mode if necessary.

The HDD will work if the SATA interface is the same as the Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D-12X has.
I would go for a 7200RPM HDD with similar specs though. You'll see a better response from your computer. I upgraded an old Sony VAIO to 7200RPM and the difference was very noticeable.
