    Alt-PrtScn (copies the active screen) -> cntl-v (Paste from clipboard) -> scroll -> repeat as needed

    i do not use screen capture enough to justify the cost. i guess i will have to do what mikedl suggest about taking multiple snippets.

    FYI. Video screen capture by Camstudio is free and open source. It is very good.

    What you require is I believe available in Faststone Capture (and others) which is available as freeware for personal use and is also available as a portable application. (does not write to registry etc.)
    A+ Freeware - Multimedia & Design - FastStone Capture 5.3 (last freeware version)

    It captures rectangular/active screen or area, freehand area and also captures a scrolling screen, I have used it many times - an good example would be to capture a lengthy tutorial to use offline. A great find by Barman58

    Isn't Faststone capture only a 30 day trial? I tried all the downloads and they ball popped up with this:

    Hello davehc the version I posted 1n post#16 is older version 5.3 originally posted by Barman58 some time ago, I just retested the validity of the link by uninstalling/reinstalling FS Capture & it still works and is free - see below

    Home (shareware) = new version but the 2 links below that that contain 5.3 are the free versions
