I got you beat, I paid up $100 for Omnipage15 (OCR Software) Then bought Office 2007 & realized what a brain fart I had the day I bought Omnipage15.

What program is creating the log? Do you know where the log resides on disk? Most likely the log IS a text file and all you need to do is send the person the logfile itself. Once the person has the logfile, they can open it with Notepad or any other text file viewer which will handle the scrolling. Taking multiple snippets sounds like an unnecessary complication to me.

i have solved the problem with the help of other members by using ctrl+a for highlighting the text, ctrl+c for coping, and ctrl+v for pasting. the message box would not allow me to use my mouse to highlight and then copy. however, i have discovered with your help two new programs that i will definitely be using in the future, camstudio and faststone capture. thanks very much, you guys are the best

snagit seems like what i might need but at $50.00 it is a little steep. is there anyway of doing what i want to do using bb code?

Have a look at IownAmoneyPit's post (number 19) I have tried it and , whilst the graphics interface is limited, it does evrything that Snagit does - free. What features did you not find?

davehc, you are quite right, i must of had what iownamoneypit said in a previous post "i must have had a brain fart" i installed "faststone" and thought i had used it and now realize i had not. i have tried so many different screen capture programs i just plain forgot fatstone. it does do what i want. thanks for the reminder.
