FIXED Explorer window Opening in new Window

Okay, i got this after loong hours of searching.
1). Check whats the default action of When you click Folder--> You can do this by right clicking the Folder..Whatever is highlighted is the default action.
For my case, this was "Open in Tab"
Current Context Menu Options:
Open in TAB
2)I navigated to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\explore
Update Default Action Value to none from openInTab
Voila!!!!! So happy to figure out after loong search

Win 2000 Pro x32 SP4 / Win 7 Home Premium x64

I've had the same problem with explorer opening every folder in the list pane in a new window! The way i've kept this from happening is use the navigation tree window to open the folders. This is very annoying trying to click on the expand icon. SO, ran wlfudge's file RegisterActxprxyAndIeproxy.cmd and re-booted computer, opened explorer and "voilla", it worked, problem solved. Amazing how the above solution worked seamlessly. Thanks LOTS.

Note: If you want the folder to open in a "New" window, use right-click list and select "Open in new window".

Only a system that has been altered could show such a problem.

First, try running the system file checker.
System File Checker - SFC /SCANNOW Command

Oh yes, if you have one of those Win Explorer substitutes loaded, then get rid of it. They are nothing but trouble.
Thanks for this. Worked in XP SP3. Plop the XP SP3 installation disk in the drive and run sfc /scannow...success

Explorer always opens each folder in new window
The default action for double-clicking a folder in Explorer is to open that folder in a new window. The only way to get it to open in the same window is to right click and select Open. I have looked for specific registry edits, but my only results seemed to only apply to Vista or XP. Please...
