Hello I been having an small issue. Not really that big, but something that just been bother me. If I saw a webpage via any browser application I get and icon that looks like the system can tell what it is usually. But I can click on it and open it up and it works fine. Anybody know on how I could maybe fix this problem? Picture below.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are asking. You're screen shot shows two copies of CNN.com links, one with a proper icon and the other just a blank page icon. Is your question about the differences in the icons?

Welcome to Seven Forums ZakRhyno. If you are saying you are saving website shortcuts to the desktop, and they show the websites favicon (icon), but later the favicon (icon) is gone. They are only stored in temp files, and clearing temp files will delete them. You can change the icon to one saved on your PC if this is the case. Please explain more clearly and we'll be happy to help you. A Guy

I think I got it. The OP wants the page on CNN to open instead of just sending you to CNN and then looking for the particular article. If this is correct just put that particular article page in your bookmarks or favorites.

Right, and A Guy told you why this is happening and how to fix it. Favicons are stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder and when that folder gets emptied, the Favicons are lost. If you want to keep them, copy them somewhere else then change the Desktop Icon to use the one in the saved location.

Favicons are in %userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5, in one or more of the folders under there.

But I think your mis understanding. It is NOT a favicon I'm speaking about, I'm taking about the default icon holder that use the icon. If I tell my system that it is Firefox as default it will replace all the HTML files on my system with Firefox telling me that Firefox has control over them and then it will open up in Firefox as default. Now when I save webpages that don't happen. It don't save favicons as that person thought I was asking. It's not showing any icon other then a blank page. Go ahead save a page in Windows 7 to the desktop and you see what I'm talking about.

Why don't you just drag the icon to the left of the URL in address bar to the desktop. That will take on the icon and it will appear on your desktop. If that icon at the front of the address is the Firefox icon that is what will be displayed on your desktop. CNN has its own red icon there so that's what that shows. As has already been said you can put whatever icon you wish on the desktop. I think the problem here is a lack of understanding. I must admit I find some of the phraseology in some of the posts a little difficult to understand. I appreciate that English may not be the OP's first language.

OP? Don't know what OP means. But, I'm not quite how sure I can explain it. The default icon for the system is not being display, for HTML files, or even save webpages. So it's not the save web files I'm talking about. It's the default icon looking blank and nothing being shown on the system. Yes, English is my first language, if that helps you.
