User window shows 2 local drives?...

Not sure how this happened but as you can see from the image my data drive is showing twice in my user file folder... Any ideas? I don't think it causes any issues it's just odd.

I think it may have happened when I was trying to make the file system more similar to windows XP. With my (D:) Drive acting as my, my documents folder, with folders inside of that.

Why are you trying to make Win7 look and act more like XP? Aren't you interested in learning how to use the best OS ever and not make it act and look like a 1967 Dodge Dart? Delete whatever folder you dragged in and instead drag the contents of the related User folder into each.

The graphics interface looks even older than XP. Rightclick on an empty area of your Desktop to choose Personalize, then choose an Aero theme. You can set up Background slideshow there, too.

Let us know if you need any more help sorting this out, and Welcome to the Future.

... Well that was rude, I happen to like the way the background looks. I separate my data from my programs for performance issues.

Anyone else have any suggestions on what the issue is here?

Didn't mean to be rude. It's just that your window frame is circa-Win2000, several generations back. Don't you want the modern Aero graphics that come with Win7?

If you need to put your User folders on another partition, this is the best method for doing that: User Folders - Change Default Location

Once you drag the contents of each folder into a corresponding new Win7 User folder you can delete the older folder until you have gotten rid of the old folders.

Dodge Dart is being polite, more like going back to a Chevy Corvair.

You listen to Greg and follow his advice. Don't you let his "avatar" mislead you. He is a true expert.

Win 7 is so far advanced from XP that the two are not even worth comparing.

And yes, I've used every version of MS software, except for Win ME.

And if I am rude, then so be it but what I am, always, is honest.

Come to us first before trying to "improve" the best OS that MS has ever created.

Well I followed the instructions and it did what it said it would, everything is on the (D:) drive now, however as you can see on the below pictures it still shows the icon for the (D:) drive twice in my personal folder when I click on it in the start menu.

Now I've no idea why it's doing it... on the other hand when I created a new user to do the afore mentioned moving process I looked at that User's personal folder and the (D:) drive wasn't there at all...

Also I tried changed to an Aero theme and it didn't change anything either. I also reverted to the default Task Bar and Start Menu settings with no effect.

Type "aero" in start search box and use the aero troubleshooter to tell you why it isn't working as it should wtih those specs.

Have you moved your data into the correct folders? What is the D drive? Is this a partition where you want your data? Can you post back a screenshot of your full Disk Mgmt drive map with listings, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu?

Tried the Aero troubleshooter, it didn't any issues with the desktop settings.

Yes my d drive partition is my data drive where I store all non program data, movies, music, pictures, etc. I now also store my user data there and all the associated files/folders, there. I followed the guide you posted to move the folders, and the user folder to the d drive partition.

I've no idea where it would be located, but I'm guessing there is some file that has a listing of what to show in the personal folder, and for some reason my d drive partition is listed there not once but twice lol. Like I said before, it's not causing any performance issues, it's just odd... because I can't move it, it's not a shortcut, it's the actual drive, as if I was looking at the drives in the computer directory.
