If it was accidentally deleted, you could try something like:
Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

    Hello ShaShar,

You might see if doing OPTION TWO in the tutorial below may be able to help restore the folder and hopefully contents.

User Folders - Restore Default Location

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thank you very much but it didn't worked

I tried to go directly to My Documents again by using the address bar but then I got an error message that said 'access denied'
Before that, it said that the file location does not exist but now it says access denied
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Drop "My " from the path: C:\Users\[username]\Documents

You should be more specific with the problem. Where they deleted by accident? Did you try moving them to a new location? Did you just happen to find the folder empty?

Unfortunately, all the contents are still gone
Guess I just have to start my project from scratch again

Thank you for all your help :)

Try doing a search for one or more of the file names that were in the documents folder, see if anything comes up. Or, if they were, for example, MS Word documents, try searching for ".doc" without the quotes.
