Windows 7: did anyone know about this? locking folders

Wouldn't changing folder permissions accomplish the same thing? Easier, too.

That's the way I would do it. In the OPs example of keeping his girlfriend out of his work files, all he has to do is restrict her user account from that folder.

it's a community machine ( she checks her mail and shops), I just don't want her seeing all my banking and other communication files. (.MHTML, .txt,.doc, .xls )

This is why user accounts should be used if more than one person is using a computer.

i have installed an upgrade of window 7 from xp. all works fine until i have the computer on overnight and then i try to start up the system out of energy conserve mode(black screen). i get the circle going around and around but never gets out of this mode. any ideas?
