    Duplicate WMP entries in "Open with" menu

    I only found out about this today when I tried to use "Open with" to access Windows Media Player. I have two of these entries but both of them work. I remembered I had issues with the WMP icon pinned on the taskbar showing as a blank icon so I used Fix WMP and the problem was gone. Not sure if that caused the problem but now all I want is it gone.

    - I have the following codecs installed -
    1. K-Lite Codec Pack Standard (Without Windows Media Player Classic)
    2. Shark007’s Windows 7 Codec Package (Not configured)
    3. K-Lite Codec Pack x64

    Okay actually this is normal because I'm using 64 bit version of Windows 7 and W764 has 2 WMP. They are 32 bit and 64 bit. I clicked on 2 of them and compared them just last week.

safe to assume its impossible to remove the "open" and the "merge" entries from the context menu? I figure if i want to open or merge them i would simply double click. Clutter and redundency in this vein dont suit me :P
I've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of programs (Real Player and KMPlayer) at different points in time but after each re-installation, said programs appear twice in the open with menu. How do I remove the duplicate?

The "open with..." Winexplorer context menu contain meanwhile a lot of useless stuff. I remember a tool for WinXP (only) which let the user remove some of these entries. How can I do this inside Win7? Peter
Using Word 2007, I am unable to pin the "New" and "Open" Word Document to the Start Menu. I was able to do this in XP and Vista. I go to "All Programs" and can load Word but cannot find the options new/open. In Word I go to "Word Options" and it is not listed there either. Thanks.
