    Unable to see files

I just upgraded my PC to Win 7, using new HD as a Master and my old HD (Win XP) as a Slave. I cannot open the files on My Documents ( Pictures and Music) on the Slave, is telling me that I need Adm. access in order to see the files, I get the access for all the folders in the HD, and when I open the files the pictures are all the same generic blue mountain, and the music plays but no sound. Any idea why?.

Hi, welcome to the forums :)

The problem you're experiencing is that your old files are assigned to a different Admin user. Use the link in post#2 to allow you to take 'Ownership' of the files/folders so that you can copy/view them correctly.

I have allready Adm. access for all the folders, the only problem is now that all the picture files are the same generic blue montain when I open (in all the folders, pictures since year 2000) and the music plays in silence.

You've unlocked the hidden admin account?

One other thing ... you may have a security app that's blocking those files. Simply put, they came from another machine and it's protecting your machine against an unknown file.

I was under the impression, that Win 7 is less severe than Vista, apparently not. I have now the Slave as an external HD connected via USB, still the same. If I did the same in XP, was never a problem. I cannot re-install my old XP, to save the files outside of My Documents. I have an old PC and installed fresh XP and I am using the old HD outside (External HD) and now XP is telling me that I don’t have access to the folders. So I believe Win 7 did damage to the files now. XP never had that problem before. I don't know were to look for the hidden Adm. account.
