Reset your BIOS
Also make sure you reseat your ram. Before concerning yourself with Windows not seeing it, always make sure the hardware sees the amount of ram you believe you have in there.
If the hardware (Bios) does not see what you believe is there, you need to start troubleshooting the memory, starting with reseating the memory first, and if that does not work, check the RAM individually, see if the system identifies each Ram chip.
If it does, start moving that ram chip into different slots and see if it responds correctly.
If it does that, put in pairs, first in the first match pair slot, see if it comes up right, then in the next pair slot, see if it comes up right.
This is a matter of doing trial and error, to see what comes up. Lastly, put them all in and now consider looking at the manual, there may be settings or restrictions based on the type of memory you are using or settings you are missing, but REFER TO THE MANUAL FIRST before messing with those settings.
Is all the memory identical? If so, you could reseat it, and also try 2 sticks...then shut down, try the other two sticks, etc. If the BIOS isn't seeing the memory, there is likely a hardware issue, either bad memory, not seated properly, or a BIOS option/upgrade needed.
Indeed, if the BIOS does not see your memory, then either the BIOS does not support it - read the manual and try to find a BIOS update - or there is a hardware problem. This can be anything from faulty DIMMs to wrongly inserted DIMMs. Matched pairs should be seated accordingly, to do this you need to consult the PC manual. To give you an example, in my Inspiron 530 there are 4 memory slots, ingeniously tagged as 1, 2, 3, 4. However, if I use only one DIMM, it has to be inserted in slot 1. If I use a pair of matched (dual channel) DIMMs, then they should be put in slots 1 and 3. This means, if I put them in slots 1 and 2, the system may not work properly. So, my advice is, follow all the excellent suggestion above, but consult your manual first on how exactly the memory should be inserted in your motherboard.
