sfc /scannow frozen.
Sigh.
Anybody know what to do if sfc / scannow freezes in the middle of running? Mine stalled at verification 87% complete... stuck for an hour now. Thanks! |

Hello Stevieray,
You can just restart the computer. If have any problems with Windows 7 running properly afterwards, then you can do a repair install. Hope this helps, Shawn |

Thanks Brink. I was worried that stopping in the middle would cause problems, but it worked like a charm.
Thanks! |

You're welcome. You might run a disk check to see if it may find any disk corruption that may have caused the hang up though.

Good idea. That's one of the few tests I haven't run this past week. I assume I should exit all other programs before I run it... so catch y'all later!
If I'm not back in an hour, send a search party! ![]() |

Wow! That was fast!
I ran the full scan, fix, recover option... came back with "This disk is clean". It would take a half an hour to run the same on my ancient Dell with xp pro... even though the hd was only 20 Gb! Now it whipped through 500 in 20 seconds! Zoom zoom. |

You're right. I just ran it again. The good news is it still came up clean. The bad news is it took 45 minutes this time. Yesterday, the first three steps took twenty seconds to run; steps 4 and 5 flashed by too quickly to read. Today, the first three steps ran the same as yesterday, but steps four and five crawled. I ran the two tests the same way... after all, they are only disk checks. They are not complex to run. I'll add another quirk to the long list of problems that appeared in the past week. Win 7 went from spotless to a buggy mess on May 25th... a few minutes after installing the two MS "test" updates. It hasn't been the same since then. |

Frozen CPU Closed Down? There have been several threads over on OCN.net and elsewhere speculating that Frozen CPU has gone out of business.
