Well, it will only use the RAM when it needs it.

You might double check to make sure that Superfetch is enabled, and set to be allowed to preload both boot and program files. It should be by default though.

Could always check compatibility if the 965p-ds4 is your mobo, link there http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/MemorySupport/motherboard_memory_ga-965p-ds4.pdf

I am experiencing the same situation. I'll let you know if i can find a solution. I hope you'll do the same.

@IWhine: Thanks but Gigabyte's list is far from exclusive and predates 2gb memory modules. However, the board is supposed to be able to support 8gb according to their site. Else i wouldn't have bothered.

    My config:
    P35 ds4 rev. 1.1
I have 6gb installed 2x1gb corsair xms2 ddr2 i bought with the main board and 2x2gb corsair xms2 ddr2 i bought just now. Both are 6400 c5 by default. No tweaks.
4gb is recognized by task manager. Physically, the modules are connected thus: 1gb-2gb-1gb-2gb.
    No tweaks applied.
I mostly need the 6gb to run some virtual machines.
It may very well be a windows 7 rc issue but i can't check with a 64bit vista.

Hello Whatdoesitwant, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Looking at your Task Manager screenshot, it does show that you have 6 GB of RAM "Total". It looks like it is reporting it correctly to me. :)

Riiight. I was looking at the numbers and not at the image. So basicly, it's saying that it is already using 2,12gb of ram for some basic stuff running windows 7 and this is not a part of but apart from the 3968mb that is labeled as available (beschikbaar)? That's a nice mistake in my interpretation. Thanks for pointing it out to me Shawn. I'd been staring at my screen for a bit longer than what could be considered as healthy.

LOL, I hear you. I've actually fell asleep at the keyboard a few times.

Not sure why it is not reported in your System screen, but as long as it is showing properly in Task Manager, you're good to go. :)

Don't let him fool you - he's built himself a nice head cradle for situations just like these....
