Turn Windows features on or off is blank, I've tried everything

Yeah, the list is just empty after loading.
I've tried running sfc /scannow, system restoring back, I've ran a chkdsk on C:, I created a new admin account to see if it worked, I even tried this command: reg delete HKLM\COMPONENTS /v StoreDirty but still no luck.

Any ideas? :s

You might try useing your Win 7 disk and do a repair install, if that doesn't work then it's time to do a clean install:)

Try the method on this page.

FIX Blank or Empty List in Vista Turn Windows Features On or Off (OptionalFeatures.exe) | Raymond.CC Blog

Make sure you download the update readiness tool for win7, just google.

If this doesnt work, repair install could probably be the only way out.

I tried that tool, and the other trick on the page, didn't work.
I guess I'll have to try a repair install.

Lets hope the next windows MS makes works properly..

Have you tried this. Start and type Windows features, tick Windows features on or off and give it time to load.

Try restoring an older version of your registry

Having tried sfc /scannow and the KB947821 fix without any success I was also on the verge of re-installing windows when I thought of rolling back some registry cleaning I'd done with CCleaner.

Luckily I had some backups and restoring an earlier version of the registry solved the problem of the Windows Features options being blank. I guess that is why so many people on this and other forums advise against using registry cleaners for anything other than cleaning up after uninstalling programs - for which IObit Uninstaller is better anyway.

The fix

I had the same problem and found this thread googling for the solution. I have fixed the issue since then, and here's how - make sure "Windows Modules Installer" service is enabled and running. That's it.
