Can't add files to live disc

I am trying to add more files to my live disc using explorer, I have done it before but now it won't work. I can't copy files to the folder, nothing appears when I paste them. If I look at the properties of the disc it says all the space is used, but its not. It looks like it has been finalized

I tried on a new disc, burnt some files to it, but couldn't add any more.

Not sure if I have changed something by mistake, if you have any ideas I would be greatful.

That has to be the most unreliable method of storing files and folders. Use some real burning software and check if the session or disc was closed. Then, copy your files off and switch to a flash drive. I'd make a joke about it, but I'm being completely serious. There's a reason why that "tech" died off almost immediately, and why no one uses it.

To be honest, this used to work. In the old days there was a great program called DirecCD, then it became Drag-to-Disc. I could use a re-writable CD or DVD simply as another folder in Windows Explorer. It worked great, I never understood why almost everyone complained about it. Of course now they do not develop this stuff anymore. Moreover, the USB memory works in exactly the same way and it is very reliable, does not require any special software, and of course nowadays has larger capacity. Therefore I too suggest using USB keys instead of optical discs. And now even my Blu-Ray player accepts files from a USB key!

I have been been saving my videos and photos to disc for years and never considered changing the way I do it, but a flash drive is actually a good idea now I think about it. Maybe it's time to change, thanks for the suggestion.

The increased transfer speed, storage capacity, and cost are all reasons to switch. I could write volumes on the problems and issues with direct-to-disc writing software.

One thing to remember when using a multi session CD-R or DVD-R is when you delete files you don't get the space back. They are still there and take up space, you just can't see them anymore. You can end up in a scenario where the visible files don't add up to the total space on the disk but there is no space left to add new files because the deleted or replaced files occupy all the remaining space. I used multi session disks for quite a while for drivers and such. When new drivers came out I just deleted the old ones and burned the new ones to the same CD until its full and then start over with a new one. Now that USB flash drives are relatively cheap I've switched media.
