    My Computer Drive usage question.

In the My Computer screen it shows all of my drives and how much data is free of the total amount of data. I was wondering if it was possible for windows to tell me how much is used of the total, rather than how much is free. It's just not as instinctive for me to see free space and quantify it as it is to see used space, and I more often want to see how much data I'm using rather than how much I have free. Any help would be appreciate.

    Thanks in advance, GW2.

In the "Computer" window right click a partition/HDD and click "Properties"

Do not put a check/tic at "Compress this drive ... " or you will be sorry.

I know how to do that, unless you mean there's an option in here to make it switch the default display in my computer than this isn't what I'm looking for as it is my current solution. I'm looking to make the icon show usage instead of free space.

There's no way to do that natively, you need to look around for an explorer plugin (if such a plugin exists). Another way is to use 3rd party tools like treesize or spacemonger or foldersize but these dont integrate with explorer, they are separate apps.

Could one perhaps, write his own explorer plugin? I am a first year programming student, so I wouldn't mind giving it a shot.
