Shortcuts No Longer Work ! And Question Re AVG & Verisign

    Hello,

Big annoyances which I don't want to say are big problems, as I can think of worse things happenings.

    a. But: ALL my shortcuts, both on my desktop, and inside Folders, no longer work.
Every one of them returns a message that "Application Not Found"

Also, clicking on a Link in an e-mail message (I use Thunderbird) no longer does anything.

All of this happened, I think, after installing AVG Free, which seems to work fine.
I might be wrong about this happening right after the installation, but I think so, though.

I can un-install AVG Free and see what happens, but thought I would ask here first.

what do you think is going on ?
Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

    b. Not sure if this is related or not, but most of the Links that come up after doing a search on Google have this Verisign check mark next to them now.

    What is this, please ?
Is this also due to AVG Free ?

Do I want this Verisign; what does it do ?

*How would I eliminate or get rid of it ?
I looked in all the places I could think of in the PC to find where this program, Application, or whatever it is, but can find no reference to it.
Doesn't come up in a Search, the Un-Install list, or anything else I can think of.

    Much thanks, as always,

    Bob

Unistall probably will not work. Much better chance with system restore, to point before install.

    Hi,

In all honesty if this has only happened since installing AVG Free the it may be wise to uninstall it.

You could try looking at the following tutorial
Default File Type Associations - Restore

Also, can you run task manager? right-click the taskbar and select from the context menu

    Hope it helps :)
