Delete to scroll lock

Hi everyone,

If anyone can assist it would be much appreciated. I am in need of switching the delete key to the scroll lock key, so the delete key cannot work for ctrl alt del function.

I am running windows 7 home prem 32bit and have tried running pretty much every program like sharp keys and key mapper with no luck.

Sorry, but I don't think that will be possible. The Scoll Lock, together with Caps Lock, Num Lock, and, if you have one, F. Lock, are what are known as toggle keys in that they toggle the functions of a group of keys on the keyboard. Quite why we still have Scroll Lock I'm not sure, since I've never come across anything where it might be used.

In any case, even if it was possible, you would still have the alternative Del key on the numberpad to deal with.

Ya we have never actually worried about the del key on the number pad with our xp builds currently we just changed the delete to scroll lock so the average user could not as easily exit out of the software.

Even if the key had to be changed to another key that would be an option to would there be anyway to change the delete key to any key on the keyboard. If not would something like this possible with windows 7 pro through maybe the gpedit.msc?

Thanks again for all the help

Thanks guys,

The keyboard remapping actually did work i think there was some sort of sticky keys function that was left half enabled making it look like the Lshift key was being depressed. I was actually worried that with 7 they had modified the scancodes.

So for anyone that needs to modify/turn off keys sharp keys 3.0 does work. Will be a little easier then modifying the registry yourself. Thank you lemur for the link i will keep that for future reference as it has a bunch of good info on the scancodes.

Also thanks barman i wont be using that program to disable the task manager but i did use it to disable the other options one less thing we have to worry about the users clicking on.

Why is the scroll lock enabling on its own?
I have four HP 4530s that the scoll lock will automatically turn on by it self. From time to time you we can use the function key and scoll button to turn it off, but there has been times where a complete reboot is necessary. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue and how to fix it?
