    It seems to be at max size, so you can only shrink it. You will need to shrink your other partition in order to then allocate the space to your C: partition.

    How is it at its max size if it is a split from the original C: partition

    Basically it was this;

    | C: |

    I shrank it into

    | D: | C: |

    Then deleted D:

    Confused here.

    You currently have 174GB of unallocated data which IMO is what's using up that space so it looks like D: has NOT properly deleted. Unless i'm reading your pic wrong

    Added: sorry just realised a mistake in my post, have fixed it now (in bold)

    When you first install windows 7 on a clean drive it wants 100mb of free space, Im not totally sure why.
    Try this create a new partition D: make it about 110mb.
    Format it and make sure you can see it in mycomputer
    Then see if you can extend C:
    If you can extend C: drive to max or where you want it then delete the D: drive you created.

    This is all in theory I don't know if it will work, Im at work on an XP machine so I cant test it.
    Please let me know.

    Dark Nova
    When you shrank C: did it give you the option of leaving space before or after? I dont use windows disk mgmt so I dont really know I use paragon Hard disk manager 2009.

    What do you want to do to C:?

    I'll explain exactly what I did, perhaps that could help you.

    I installed Windows 7 RC (x64) on one partition (taking up the entire drive), then it started giving me issues. I shrank W7's partition to roughly half, then installed Windows Vista HP SP2 (x64) on the empty partition.

    Then I deleted the Windows 7 partition, and then it wouldn't let me 'extend' with the unallocated space that I recieved from deleting Windows 7.

    Someone mentioned that if the unallocated space is on the 'left' side, it has issues. Not sure if thats true or not, seems a bit odd if it is true.

    ==-==-==

    It didn't ask me such a thing. I want to extend the unallocated space into C: so its all one partition.

    I don't think that's true. I have a partition set up for my files and i can't extend past what was on C when i installed 7. And my partition is on the right

    You can't extend "backwards" using Windows software.
