    Desktop icon selection range

    1st of all, hello

    So, I have 2 computers
1 of them is a desktop pc the other one is a laptop

My Desktop pc is 2yrs old, my laptop is pretty new, 2months old or something

and heres the problem: The icon selection range on my laptop is somewhat messed up, it's very large and stretched, here example:
When it should be like this:

The selection area on my pc is normal, not so stretched like on my laptop

    Any way to fix this?

The "Icon Selection Range", as you call it, is I think based on the largest width produced by an icon name. Check the names of icons where the name fits the entire width of the icon area, and try to rename the icon to something shorter.

    It might help...

Have you first tried the normal method of resizing icons? Below is the instruction for Vista. It must be pretty similar for Windows 7:

To resize Desktop icons Right-click the desktop, point to View, and then click Large Icons, Medium Icons, or Classic Icons. (“Classic” icons are the smallest size.)

Just the act of resizing the icon, shutting down and rebooting might just trigger the correction of the problem.

May be it's related to the Icon spacing thing which can be modified via Tuneup utilities (this's the only one i remember now) if you don't mind dloading or here's a tutorial for doing it manually. How To Change Icon Spacing & Size in Windows 7 · HowToInWindows.com
