Windows 7: win 7 takes 20-25 seconds to start

win 7 takes 20-25 seconds to start

and 60-90 seconds to login....... can somebody explain why it takes so long to login, should i transfer my files from documents folder to some other folder. because i read somewhere that more files in document folders the slower the system becomes in case of win xp

Uncheck everything in msconfig except AV and gadgets. All others are freeloaders on your startup time, RAM and CPU, and can spy on you.

Ask yourself if you really need to sign-in. Removing the password can make everything a lot easier unless you have security concerns that outweigh it.

Try the MSCONFIG and clean boot solution. You can also use Soluto to see which application(s) takes much time during boot..

thanx i unchecked 90% of the items from msconfig startup, except for wordweb, DAP, speedbit video accelerator, utorrent and the login takes much less time then before, now appr. 1/4 of the previous startup time

That's good. Btw, you can disable DAP too as it'll automatically open and take over the dload when you click any dload link within the associated app, like firefox.Your boot may get a bit more faster..

you can probably disable utorrent, unless you always have torrents waiting to upload or download. otherwise just clicking on a torrent file will invoke the software.
