PC locked up and rebooted with legacy dos screen again

This time the message was DES has been disabled. Enable it or some such nonsense. I have no clue what it means. Luckily I had a PS/2 keyboard to use to hit the ENTER key or my PC would have been disabled again.

When I got back online, every website that uses PWs had to be logged back into. Sites that I never have to log into once I've done it once.

What is this DES and is it related to cookies?

As far as re-entering the uid and password did you save them in a browser?

Why would Windows 7 be telling me on bootup that data encryption standard is disabled? Does that even make any sense to anyone? Is there even a data encrption standard that I can enable?

What's saving uid and password in a browser got to do with anything? Whatever that means...I don't know how you would save them in a browser. When I go to a member site, I am always logged in. After this crash, every site I was logged in to is asking me to log in again. It's not like I can't do it, I just don't know why I need to after a crash.

For the record, I've had about a dozen crashes since RC. Can't ever remember having one on XP...
