    Problem with Test Update 6

    Hi everyone,

I just installed Windows 7 RC on my laptop, and I'm having trouble installing KB970421 from the May 26th test updates. All the others have installed fine, but this one keeps coming up with error code 80073712, but I have no idea what it means. I've tried deleting the files from Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download over and over again, but the update keeps failing. It seems to get to about 11% of the download, then it fails.

Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Open update and open view update history... find the update not working click hide do not show again... most of the time it has been installed and MS simply is not reading correctly... this has been an recurring problem since win95.

Thanks for the quick replies! Snuffy I did what you said and it's not bugging me now. Zigzag3143, thanks for the useful information, seems like I might just have to tell it to ignore the update.

Wither it is x86 or x64 this problem has been a (IMHO) major problem..and there are many "different ways around". For me it is the easiest : open updates, view and find the one which will not install, then HID It. I had one version that wanted to update every language about 1 time a week... Simply "HID" the KB-update. and continue on the way. PS: many times you can also READ the info and understand, there is NO WAY you need that , or many times you find it has already been installed. (REMEMBER this is still a BETA OS.)
