Windows 7: Will a 32-bit OEM key work with a 64-bit install?

Win7 Enterprise, Win7 x86 (Ult 7600), Win7 x64 Ult 7600, TechNet RTM on AMD x64 (2.8Ghz)

Those recovery disks will install the 32 bit OS, pre-installed drivers and pre-installed apps including Toshiba crapware. If your computer came 32 bit, 32 bit is what will be installed, not 64 bit.

When I booted up the recovery disk, it lets me choose between 32 bit and 64 bit.


Back up everything first. But now i'm 99.9% sure your COA key will work with the 64 bit.

DVD Install doesn't work
I have burnt the windows 7 rc files onto a DVD but when I restart to install it, I get the error message 'no bootable devices -- press f1 to retry or press f2 for setup'. What is going on with the dvd here, any ideas?

And I imagine that I will have to restore the backed up image of my Vista install before I try to install the Win7 dvd made from the downloaded file when I finally...
