Windows keep selecting and deselecting themselves

hi, i tried this, and now i keep getting popup messages saying "updater has stopped working". how do i now stop this?

20 minutes so far and it seems to have worked for me, too! After trying to figure it out all night with no luck until I came across this thread. Thanks! (keeping my fingers crossed)

ALRIGHT guys, after many months of having this problem, and many attempts to fixing it, and looking all over the web for answers and receiving negative results, alas! I have I found a solution! But, i had my girlfriend take a lot at my computer (lol <3) and she went into my registry and found a freeze.com virus in there and we deleted it. That made it stop happening for a day, but it slowly returned. I wouldnt suggest going into your registry unless you absolutely know what you're doing. Otherwise, well, from personal experience you will mess something up, EXTREMELY badly... lol

Now, FINALLY on to fixing this darn thing (Hopefully for most people). So ive seen so many fixes already, and if you've tried them all and it still keeps deselecting screens and minimizing your full screen games and stuff, try this. This took me a day to catch this nasty little thing lol. Basically, i had a game in full screen mode and i left my taskmanager open to see the processes that were running. (I figured this out because i read some guy said he ended a task when the deselection happened and it worked for him). So, what i figured out happened was that a process gets ran whenever a window deselects itself, but it takes like 3-5 seconds, and then itll disappear! :O So, basically, i had to catch this process quite fast. While i blame this fast paced 'catching' of the process on my superior gaming reflexes (haha), okay whatever i hate boasting... Anyways, i figured out it was a process called wermgr.exe And its from Windows and it sends solutions or something like that when an error occurs or whatever. IM NOT REALLY SURE. However, i do know that when i turned this off, it fixed it!

So, to turn this darned thing off... I am running on windows 7 x64 so umm, anybody else will have to find it themselves? But it shouldnt be too hard to do :) Alright, so you can find this in Control Panel>system and security>action center>problem reporting settings. Or, just go to START and type in, "problem reporting settings" and then hit enter. You should get a screen that has "automatically check for solutions..." selected. What you need to do, is turn this off. So, select never check for solutions (Not recommended) and then hit OK. Not really sure why this was the problem, and it may not fix it for everybody, so im sorry if it doesn't :/ But, I really wanted to say this because this happened over and over and so i just wanted to help everybody i could lol.

A perfect solution... may I add that I couldn't change the settings sufficiently via control panel. I ambushed the process in task manager. Services.msc in my w7 64 showed it as 'Report Solutions Service.' Anyway, it's now dead. Solutions, indeed?
