    Notification Area problems

Hey guys.. got a question for you.

OK so I've had Windows 7 RC on a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop ever since it came out. Everything has been working great. But one day I noticed the notification area was different. The color had become darker and anytime I tried to customize the behavior of the notifications, explorer.exe stops working and as to be restarted. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Looks like this:

    hey onesevenone

Did you skin this or do some other visual effect change?

Thanks for the quick reply Ken!
No skins or anything like that. I can change the style to another aero theme and the notification area is still darkened. But I did notice that if I change it to a classic theme, it's all one color.

    That is really strange........

Have you installed anything that messes with the Taskbar?

Hi onesevenone, welcome to the forums.

There could have been some issue with system files.

If you run command prompt as administrator (Start Menu - type cmd - right-click cmd and select 'Run as Administrator'). From there you can run sfc /scannow, this will check your system file integrity for errors & possible corruption. If issues are found then Windows will restore the affected file.

    Hope this help :)
