This is how to do things. No need to rely on a tool that does the same thing, but in a worse fashion (like modifying timestamps). Pretty much every major piece of software has some tutorial on how to save/transfer its files/settings. The hardest part is collecting all of that, but the time spent up front will save you so much in the future.
Even I am doing transfers manually, but even then rarely any copy tools maintain the TIMESTAMPS of Files and Folders.

That's why I use robocopy or xcopy for it all. Very simple and easy to use once you do it a couple times. Once you know all the directories you need to copy, just create a batch file that backs them all up or transfers them. Once and done.

"Date Modified" changes on original file when copying
I spent some time searching the forums but did not find any post that answered my question so I am starting a new thread. Windows Explorer is changing my original file's date when I do a drag-and-drop copy operation. I would like to know how I can tell Win7 to not change the original file date.

Windows Photo Gallery "Modified" date
I've used Picasa for years, and loved everything about it. In the past few months, however, I've also been trying to try and use more Windows programs, like jumping on the new address and SkyDrive, but I have a big nitpick issue when I try and use Windows Photo Gallery. I love...
