No Login Option
Last night I restarted my computer (hp dv9700 windows 7 pro x64) and when it came back online everything was normal except there were no user profiles for me to log into, the blue background with "Windows 7 Professional" at the bottom is there, but no user icons.
I got out the install disc and ran the start-up repair utility and it said the os booted successfully.
So, I opened up command and started looking around and both of my user profiles and all of my data is still there and able to be read.
After some research I learned about the BCD00000000 hive in the registry and went back into the repair disc and command and pulled up regedit and under local machine the BCD00000000 hive isn't there.
After an hour with Microsoft tech support they said to wipe it and start again, but i really would like to see if it can be fixed to avoid all the reinstall's of my software and such.
I have 2 hard drives so i put Ubuntu on the 2nd and my user profiles for windows are completely explorable.
Any Ideas??
Thank you
